Originally known as Sunset, the community first changed to Sunrise Golf Village in 1961, only to be reincorporated as Sunrise 10 years later. The suburban city maintains its small-town feel to this day, with neighbors greeting one another by name on balmy morning walks

Home to the world-famous Sawgrass Mills outlet mall, the city of Sunrise is 20 miles inland from the coastal beaches of Fort Lauderdale.
